“I love Falcao and Cavani” – Wenger

Falcao-Monaco

Arsene Wenger has reserved praise for strikers Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain) and Radamel Falcao (Monaco) and hailed them as two of the best in the world.
However, the Arsenal manager feels Falcao is slightly better in front of goal, although Cavani is more mobile. The two strikers will come face to face this weekend, in a keenly anticipated Ligue 1 clash.
“I believe it’s very difficult to make a difference because for me they are very similar. They have an animal aspect inside of them. Both of them are animals,” Wenger told Bein Sport.
“I think Cavani is a bit more mobile, and makes more runs off the ball, and Falcao is a bit more of a box player, a bit more of a killer than Cavani.
“But both of them, I love. And honestly, not to protect one or the other, but it’s very difficult to make a difference between the two.”
Cavani has scored twice in the French league this season, since his summer move from Napoli, while Falcao has four goals from five league appearances.

Mikel breaks EPL goal jinx, scores after 261 games

Mikel-Fulham

Mikel Obi, Chelsea Midfielder, on Saturday scored his first ever English Premier League (EPL) goal for the club since joining in 2006.
The goal came in the 84th minute in the match against Fulham.
Mikel stretched to tap in from a goal mouth scramble to secure 2-0 win for the London Club.
Football fans in Nigeria say it will be a morale booster for MIkel after a long goalless spell in the club.
Mr John Aka said that the goal would boost Mikel’s confidence and make him go for more goals.
“He can now believe in himself; the goal will spur him into being more adventurous instead of just being a passer of the ball.
“A good midfielder should have his name in the goal chart every season but that has not being the case of Mikel.’’
Another football fan, Dele Ojo, said that the coaching crew in Chelsea should encourage Mikel to push forward during attack.
“It is not that he does not have the ability to score but about the role he is given in Chelsea.’’
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles midfielder said he was delighted to have broken the jinx but attributed the goal to team work.
“I am very glad for the goal after a very long time; it’s about the team it’s about winning the game.’’
Oscar had fired Chelsea into the lead in the 52nd minute.
Chelsea are now back on the top of the EPL with the win.

ASUU may call off strike next week

Indication emerged Friday that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, may call of its strike next week.
This came after a meeting with the striking lecturers and Vice-President, Namadi Sambo in Abuja on Thursday.
The meeting, which held behind closed doors had in attendance the supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike and the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie.
ASUU was led by its National President, Dr. Nasir Faggae, as well as two former Presidents of ASUU; Dr. Dipo Fasina and Dr. Abdullahi Sule-Kano.
Others at the meeting were the Vice-Chancellors of Bayero University Kano, Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar; Prof. Isaac Adewole of the University of Ibadan; and Prof. Muhammed Hamisu of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
The two parties did not disclose the outcome of the meeting, which lasted for almost two hours to newsmen.
Fagge, however, told State House Correspondents that the union would make its position known after the National Executive Council meeting.
Wike had assured Nigerians that students would soon return to school as the federal government was ready to shift ground.
However, an insider source who does not want his name mentioned said that going by the new offers made by the Federal Government, the strike might be called off within the next two weeks.
This, the source said, was because the Federal Government had agreed to release fund to revitalize the university system.
The source said, “The meeting went well, the vice-president made some new offers that were different from what was on ground before. For instance, the Federal Government had agreed to start the injection of revitalisation fund into the university system starting with N100bn this year and N150bn in 2014 and this will continue until the university system is solid enough to stand.”
The source, however, said that the ASUU team promised to get back to the vice-president after its NEC meeting, which is schedule for today, Saturday.

Governor Suswam, Lawani at loggerheads over 2015 guber race; deputy may dump PDP

Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam and his Deputy, Steve Lawani are currently not in good terms over the latter’s intention to contest for the state’s governorship election in 2015.
Things fell apart between the two politicians when Lawani in a recent public function held in Otukpo, the ancestral kingdom of the Idoma nation called on his kinsmen to support him to break the jinx as the first Idoma man to govern Benue State.
However, his decision did not go down well with governor Suswam who DailyPost learnt had secretly anointed Minister of Trade and Investment, Samuel Ortom for the number one seat.
A reliable insider had informed DailyPost that though, Lawani had told Suswam of his intention to join the governorship race, his boss neither disapprove nor accept his request, but asked him to still go for consultations.
According to the source who would not want his name mentioned, “Suswam and his Deputy, Lawani have been at loggerheads for over two months now since his Deputy informed him of his plan to succeed him in 2015.”
“When Lawani first informed his boss, Suswan of his governorship ambition, a few months back, the governor thought he was joking and thus advised him to consult the Senate President for approval before making his intention known,” the source said.
However, David Mark at a meeting held in Otukpo recently told the Idoma people to forget ruling the state, saying that they can only be governor if the long-awaited Apa State was created.
Mark, the Okpokpowulu of Idoma land at the event, which had Lawani in attendance had told his kinsmen to forget ruling the state, noting that the Tiv, which is the majority would never give them the chance of governing the food basket state.
Apparently angered by Mark’s assertion, Lawani left the place and a week later, rolled out his campaign posters, announcing his arrival as candidate for the next election.
Our source said Suswam had since ordered that the posters of Lawami be removed from the streets of Makurdi.
The source said, “The Governor and his Deputy have been engaging in war of words since the latter opened up on his governorship ambition.”
Further investigation revealed that Suswam has been grooming Ortom for the number one seat.
DailyPost further learnt that Lawani may dump PDP for APC if the ruling party denies him ticket.
“He (Lawani) had met with top members of the APC in the state to inform them of his plans to succeed Suswam,” another source said.
Prior to the ongoing saga, Suswa and Lawani had maintained a close and refreshing relationship, which according to political analysts should ‘serve as a veritable point of reference or model for leaders who are really prepared to provide effective and sincere political leadership at all levels of governance where virtues of team work, collective sense of purpose and spirit of give and take should normally hold sway in the interest of the people that elected them to office.
However, the once cordial relationship has gone sour.
